Last Day in the Studio

LAST day of Senior Studio.
It's bitter sweet, I'm happy to go but sad to see it leave.
I had so many good memories in my little space and I'm going to miss the artful environment and the great people.
I'll miss looking out my little window seeing people walk in and out of the library and watching the snow fall on a winter day.
I grew so much this past year as person and as an artist.
Before this year I had very little confidence and now I leave with a head full of knowledge and a new spirit inside me.
NHIA you gave me some great years and I'll miss you but I will never forget where I started.
I will bring the joy of art to every child I encounter and I thank you for all you have given me.

Empty walls but a mind full of thoughts

Once covered with images of art, family, friends, sketches, & notes,
Now stand bare.

Final View

Last looks out my window.
I'll miss you NHIA!

Easter Cupcakes

Yes I made these!
I'm pretty proud of myself.
They are all homemade using the recipe from my book that Derek Lagasse created.
I added toasted coconut to make it look like twigs for the birds nest and added egg M&Ms to look like birds eggs.
I got the fancy petal baking cups from A.C. Moore I thought it was a nice touch.
I had lots of fun making these can't wait to make my graduation cupcakes next month!

yum, yum.

Final Days at the Studio

Here are just some shots of my studio.
Only 6 more days of school left.
I wanted to take photos to remember this time in my life.

Here is some photos of me and my favorite baby in the world Tyler when he was born to inspire me
Above that is some inspirational modern art work
To the left is Cheshire Cat I colored out of a coloring book
He's so funny, it keeps me smiling

This is my view behind me.
I got my monkey digital painting and other notes and homework assignments hanging up.
I put up my A paper in art & meaning that I was pleasantly surprise to get!
that really makes me happy =]

This is to the right of me. I have some of my painting resting.
I also have some of my first drafts of illustrated pages hung up that didn't make the cut.
I'm going to be really sad when I have to take all these things down.
Its going to bitter sweet. I've spent so much time here over the past year, I'm going to miss it
but i'll be moving on to bigger and better things!

My Real Artist Statement

Here it is folks, my actually Artist Statement that will be hanging next to my paintings at my show. This expresses who I am as an artist and how and why I paint the way I do. Read it and I hope you enjoy!

Tasty Paintings
I love to teach children about art and this has affected my art style. I create happy paintings by using bright colors to excite your eyes and to spark memories of your childhood. I want to give you the opportunity to escape your mature life of stress and woes and be lost in a fantasy world made of sugary baked goods. My goal is to create images that are clear and vivid for a child to relate to.

In terms of technique, I apply large amounts of oil paints to create the texture in my desserts. Then I use toothpicks, plastic forks, popsicle sticks, and anything I can find to help me mold the texture I desire. A bright palette of rainbow hues enhances the playful quality in my style. My paintings are calorie free, and come without that feeling of regret you may experience after you indulge.

If I'm Going to Paint, I'm Going to Paint it Right!

Yum, Yum, Chocolate Cake.
Nope I didn't make it, I went to the good ole' Hannafords up the street.
So as you know my first attempt at a color wheel cake wasn't that great.
Bad perspective.
So here is my color wheel take two!
This time I have reference, so it's going to make a great difference.

This is the photo I am thinking about using for my reference
I split the cake in slices to get the color wheel affect

This is how it would feel if you lived inside a piece of cake
My dream house!

I THINK I might attempt to do this pipped edging
I don't know if its possible but i'm going to try.

Orange Sherbet & Lemon pie DONE!

Lemon Pie is done! I finally figure out how to paint the plate
very happy about how it came out.

New Texture on my Orange Sherbet.
It was missing something and the texture completed it.
its all done! yahoo!

Close up of the Texture

A Clean Slate
Im restarting my cover painting and doing it from a different perspective.
I'm buying a cake tonight to photograph it from the right angle
I hope I can finish this in time!
