About Me

Melissa Ouimette: I am an Illustrator and Art Educator. My love & dedication for helping children to learn has always been present throughout my life. My teaching career began in high school when I taught my first lesson on healthy eating habits & the benefits of exercise. The opportunity for teaching as well as creating different art elements inspired me to become an art teacher. Since then I have volunteered in the community, to enrich & educate students about various art elements. While working to complete my education & continuing my volunteer work I have had time to create art that has been exhibited in several well-known galleries. I have illustrated my first book entitled Sweet Tooth for Color. This book is designed to teach younger children their basic colors through the act of baking desserts. I have combined the love of color & baking into one simple guide. I have created lavish, textural paintings, that pair with my unique style of whimsical illustrations to create a child’s dream of a cookbook. I continue to grow as an artist and educator.
