Start of the Pops

Here's the beginning of my purple pop painting
I started painting detail on the middle pop
once I add in the shadows underneath I feel it will make them pop out more
I'm also still adding another pop in the top right hand corner
Tomorrow I will be working on more details and adding in the sticks
I also want to add some really funky texture on the bite mark

Art Cook Book: Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking

As I was searching Yahoo News today and I came across this lovely book called
"Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking"
It was created by Dr. Nathan Myhrvol
This series brings food and art together
The photographs are interesting and creative
They give an inside look to cooking
While giving recipes
(sound familiar?)

It gives you views you have never seen before
 It even shows the basic
Steaming broccoli

This is my favorite I love pasta!

Collage of images from the book

There are Six volumes and it cost $625
And there are 2,438 pages
It's bring cooking and art together
just like me

(I found all this information at http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/extreme-eating-inside-the-new-625-cookbook-2464738/#photoViewer=1)

Shoe Show

I know this isn't exactly art related but I just received these Pumps in the mail today
I plan on wearing them for my preview party in May
I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them
They have fantastic texture
While I was taking photos of them I noticed that the texture on my shoes look a lot like sprinkles
maybe thats why I love them so much!
I'm not much of a photographer but I love taking close cropped in compositions
that are very sharp in one area and unfocused every where else
These were only taken with a sony cybershot 8 megapixel camera
It takes very nice photos for just a hand held
and I have it for about three years now and it works perfect
plus It's pink <3

I can't wait to wear them.

And here's my cat skittles (Yes named after another tasty treat)
taking a nap in the box my shoes came in

Pop Shots

I took some basic shots for my painting to use for reference and then I decided to get a creative and start taking some abstract photos

Start of My Purple Dessert Painting

I have laid down my sketch and painted around it.
I started off with one popsicle but it was to plain and there was so much space around it and it seemed like it was floating in space
I decided to have them scattered about in a playful manner like on a busy summer day
So far I like the lay out, its a little different than my others paintings but I think its a refreshing change

This is my digital color sketch,
I think I want to do different shades of purple to mix it up a bit
I'm not sure how different I want the purples to be
As you can see the one on the middle left is a more pinkish-purple
I don't want to stray more than that from the original main purple popsicle
Let me know what you think
I will be starting to paint this tomorrow
I'm still not sure of the text yet but i'll let you know.

Yellow Page

This is my Yellow Page
Lemon Meringue Pie is the Painting to go with this one
I'm pretty happy with this one, don't think I'll have to do much editing to it
